FHWA Planning Capacity Building, Planning Methods, and Oversight
To aid in the implementation of the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) current research program and future research programs, HEPP requires the support of and access to multi-disciplined teams to meet the transportation challenges for the twenty-first century. Services provided by the Volpe Center will be targeted at specific needs and areas of interest that will support FHWA work in transportation planning capacity building as well as innovation in transportation planning processes and decision-making, transportation and land use, and transportation and community impacts. This also includes advancing FHWA research activities under numerous emphasis areas of the Surface Transportation Environment and Planning Cooperative Research Program (STEP) established under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).
