On-Board Vehicle Emissions Monitoring System Equipment Request
Vehicle emissions monitoring equipment have improved over the last decade. Only one system is capable of providing laboratory-grade emissions from an on-board sampling regime: Sensors' Semtech system. The Semtech system was developed in cooperation with the US Environmental Protection Agency and is the gold standard in on-board emissions monitoring. Acquiring this system will allow the Kansas University (KU) Air Quality team to compare emissions estimates used in Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) air quality models with actual vehicle emissions and will allow better characterization of both conventional and alternatively-fueled vehicles.
