The Economic and Social Role of Bike Paths in Rhode Island

This study proposes to examine the use and impact of bike paths in the state with consideration of the economic and social outcomes of nearby businesses and communities through surveys and interviews. In addition this study will seek to identify potential barriers and best practices in regards to the use of bike paths as a stimulus for economic and community development by examining out of state communities with strong bike paths. Finally this study proposes to annually conduct a user count of Rhode Island bike paths and install automated counters.
