Structural Polyurethane Foam Infill for Fiber Reinforced Polymer Bridge Deck Panels
The proposed study will involve investigating alternative polyurethane foam formulations as potential candidates to replace the honeycomb construction currently used in fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bridge deck panels. The purpose of this proposed research will be as a proof-of-concept and to obtain preliminary data for proposals to both federal and state funding agencies including National Science Foundation (NSF), National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and Missouri Department of transportation (MoDOT). Results from this research will establish this technique as a viable approach.
