Maintain Long-Term Health Monitoring of Three Highway Bridges
Task 0245 previously provided an investment into a structural health monitoring system at three Caltrans bridges. These systems need to be maintained through FY08/09 to allow for the collection of additional data sets. Longer term needs will be determined during Summer '08 Strategic Research Workshops and submitted under a separate task. The objective of this research is to maintain and continue monitoring three instrumented bridges for their system performance throughout their life span. In addition, at least 12 additional similar bridges should be selected to improve the database by using portable data collection equipment. All results should be included in the database already developed. The three existing instrumented bridges would be used to be part of Caltrans strong motion instrumented bridges network.
