Evaluation of Empirically Designed Bridge Decks and Bearings for Horizontally Curved Bridges
Horizontally curved bridges are subjected to a complex system of forces in multiple planes. The overall objective of this project is to review the current codes and specifications for horizontally curved bridges, and to use the Man Bridge as a case study to see if the codes and specifications efficiently address the complex system of forces that horizontally curved bridges are subjected to. This will be accomplished through a literature review, field instrumentation and evaluation, and finite element modeling and analysis.
