Automatic People Counting for Transportation Systems
This is a continuation of a project that is looking at textel cameras to count passengers on public transportation. The objective of this work is to develop the software to be utilized with the camera hardware to not only provide data on the number of passengers that utilize a bus (or train) but the point at which each passenger mounted the bus and at which point each passenger disembarked the bus; and a log of this activity. This will provide previously unavailable information that can be used for route planning and more efficient use of a public transit agency assets.
