An Analytical Review of School Site Programs and Collisions to Address Child Mobility and Safe Access to School
The objectives of this project are to provide future school route safety enhancement programs and Safe Routes to School programs guidance to assess the risk of collisions and thereby address unsafe conditions on a proactive basis. The ultimate goal is to ensure safe, effective, and healthy travel for children and young adults attending schools. The project builds on two data sets. The first is based on data from past Safe Routes to School Projects, and the second is a geo-coding of individual non-motorized collisions in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The two datasets will be the basis for two sets of analyses that summarize lesions learned and enhance future SRTS programs at the local, state and national levels.
