Endangered Species Listing Preparation and Response

Listing of additional species under the ESA can have substantial impact on Washington State Department of Transportation's (WSDOT) project delivery. Of particular concern are overly restrictive permit requirements imposed by regulatory agencies because they lack information on the relationship of the species to transportation facilities. This project will allow WSDOT to identify and assist in filling gaps in research related to transportation and listed species and will minimize impacts to project delivery by expediting Biological Assessments. Based on the experience of a similar project in 2001-03, chances are very high to leverage partnership funds.
