A Multiscale Simulation Platform for Connected and Automated Transportation Systems

The research team proposes to develop a multiscale vehicle-traffic-demand (VTD) simulation platform for connected and automated transportation systems (CATS). The team will also propose to investigate local/regional traffic flow dynamics using VTD. The proposed research will be built upon the previous research results the team (eco-driving, traffic control methods for CAVs) and other C2Smart partners (e.g., MATSIm simulation testbed developed by Profs. Joseph Chow and Kaan Ozbay at NYU) have produced in the last several years, which will be extended to the multiscale VTD for wider testing/validation of CAV-based models and algorithms by the investigators and in the broader academia, industry, and public agency communities.
