      <title>Synthesis of Information Related to Highway Practices. Topic 57-08. Siting Electric Transmission Lines in State Department of Transportation Right-of-Way
</title>

This requires installation of new transmission lines to deliver electricity where capacity is needed. Using transportation corridors for transmission co-location may reduce transmission deployment delays, and the need for private acquisition of land rights by using state Right-of-Way (ROW) permits and licenses. Because of this state departments of transportation (DOTs) have been encouraged to consider accommodating energy transmission lines within highway ROWs through utility accommodation policies or non-highway alternative use agreements.
