Developing Best Practices (BPs) for Bicycle Trail Construction & Maintenance in Illinois

This research is directed at the development of pavement design guidelines so that all parties involved with bicycle trail construction and maintenance throughout Illinois use consistent and cost effective design procedures. This research will evaluate a broad range of materials that can satisfy the functional needs of bicycle trails. It will bring the latest technology that is presently available to the field of bicycle trail construction and maintenance. Design procedures that consider life cycle costs and preservation will be considered.
