Effect of Wide-Base Super-Single Tires on Pavements
Record Type: UTC
The research project designed to determine the applicability of research performed through the physical testing and modeling of several flexible pavement designs for newly introduced wide based tires within the state of South Dakota. It is not clear in South Dakota as to the full range of road surfaces (including unpaved roads) that exist on state and local highways. The research project will examine the possible impacts of allowing 20,000 pounds on single axles equipped with wide-base tires on roads in South Dakota.
